HOW IT STARTED
MY STORY

Growing up on a farm taught me to work hard, take responsibility, and always put animal welfare first. Those early lessons built the foundation for everything I do now with working dogs.

I got my first registered dog, a Border Terrier called Little Greenfields at seven years old. We spent countless hours together and through working with her, I later developed an interest in Lurchers. That’s where I really began to understand the importance of bloodlines and breeding dogs with the right traits for the job.

I began joining my uncle on small, family-run pheasant shoots at around the age of twelve, which introduced me to gundogs and sparked a new direction for me. Nala - Utopiavalley Black Magic, was my first gundog and I put a lot of time into training her to work off the whistle and respond to hand signals.

I picked up techniques through books, magazines, DVDs and by watching experienced handlers whenever I could. I’ve always been willing to learn, ask questions, and study the detail - something that continues to shape my approach today.

ABOUT US

The welfare of our dogs is always our top priority. While they thrive on their work in the field, that’s only part of what keeps them fit, healthy, and happy. Around-the-clock care, a proper environment, and attention to their physical and mental needs all play a part.

We’re proud to be a 5-star licensed breeder through Durham County Council, meeting the highest welfare standards required by our local authority.

We’ve invested a great deal of time and money into building modern, purpose-built kennels. The setup includes temperature control for year-round comfort, anti-chew surfaces, and easy-to-clean materials that fit in with our daily hygiene routine.

Working gundogs need more than just physical exercise—they need mental stimulation too. Our dogs are walked twice a day, for a minimum of an hour each time and have regular opportunities to free run. This routine keeps them physically fit for the shooting season and gives them the chance to engage in their natural behaviours - rain or shine.

We feed a balanced raw diet made up of quality protein, fruits, vegetables, oils and carbohydrates. Feeding raw in its natural form means our dogs benefit from nutrients often lost during processing. It supports healthy muscle development, recovery after work and helps maintain healthy skin and coats - especially important for dogs exposed to all weather conditions.

Litters are planned carefully to continue and improve our own working bloodlines. Studs are selected to complement each bitch, with a focus on producing pups that are healthy, trainable and fit for purpose with sound temperaments.

As responsible breeders, we carry out full DNA testing on all breeding dogs, along with hip, elbow, and eye scoring, to give every pup the best start in life.

Each puppy leaves us with a comprehensive puppy pack, which includes details about the sire and dam, vaccination and microchipping records, worming and flea treatment history, a socialisation guide, and five weeks of insurance through The Kennel Club.

It’s really important to us that our pups go to the right homes - where the owners understand the breed and are fully prepared to meet their dog’s needs. We also love staying in touch and getting updates as they grow and develop into the dogs they’re meant to be.
